Castle of Langoiran

Built at the end of the 13th century, the castle of Langoiran was one of the most prestigious and powerful elements of the duchy of Aquitaine. Involved in the struggles between the King of England and the King of France, a royal fortress at the end of the 15th century, it became the residence of the presidents of the Bordeaux parliament in the 16th and 17th centuries. Burned during the Fronde in 1649, it remained in ruins thereafter. Purchased in 1972 by private individuals, it has since been restored and animated by the Association of Friends of the Castle.
